A JOKE (UN CHISTE): WAITING FOR YOU! (HOLIDAYS)
A couple from Minneapolis decided to go to Florida for a long weekend to thaw out during one particularly icy winter. Because both had jobs, they had difficulty coordinating their travel schedules. It was decided that the husband would fly to Florida on a Thursday, and his wife would follow him the next day. Upon arriving as planned, the husband checked into the hotel. There he decided to open his laptop and send his wife an e-mail back in Minneapolis. However, he accidentally left off one letter in her address, and sent the e-mail without realizing his error.
In Houston, a widow had just returned from her husband's funeral. He was a minister of many years who had been 'called home to glory' following a heart attack. The widow checked her e-mail, expecting messages from relatives and friends. Upon reading the first message, she fainted and fell to the floor. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:
To: My Loving Wife
From: Your Departed Husband
Subject: I've Arrived!
I've just arrived and have checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

Una pareja de Minneapolis (norte de EE.UU.) decidió ir a Florida (sur de EE.UU.) para pasar un largo fin de semana y descongelarse tras un invierno particularmente helado. Debido a que ambos tenían empleos, tenían dificultad para coordinar sus horarios de viaje. Se decidió que el marido volaría a Florida en un jueves, y su esposa le seguiría al día siguiente. Al llegar, como estaba previsto, el marido se registró en el hotel. Allí decidió abrir su ordenador portátil y enviar un e-mail a su esposa en Minneapolis. USO DEL PRESENTE CONTINUO EN INGLÉS PARA FORMAR FUTURO
En inglés hay diferentes tiempos
verbales para hablar del futuro: will, be going to, presente simple o presente
continuo. En este post veremos cuándo se usa el presente continuo para hablar
del futuro. Después podréis hacer un ejercicio para practicar.
FUTURO: PRESENTE CONTINUO
Usaremos el presente continuo con valor de futuro para planes
que ya se han organizado, planes fijos. Esto es muy importante para que podáis
distinguirlo del be going to (que también se usa para expresar planes. Los
planes con be going to son más bien intenciones, no son fijos como los
expresados con el presente continuo porque todavía no han sido organizados).
I am having lunch with a friend tomorrow (voy a comer con un
amigo mañana) → (ya hemos quedado)
I am visiting New York next week (voy a visitar Nueva York la
semana que viene) → (ya tengo el vuelo)
We are having a party this weekend (vamos a hacer una fiesta
este fin de semana) → (ya hemos dado las invitaciones a la gente)
Compara:
I'm going to get married (me voy a casar) → Lo
tengo en mente, lo tengo planeado.
I'm getting married (me voy a casar) → Lo
tengo planeado y además he cogido fecha en la iglesia o Registro Civil.
